Omega Lab provides specialist consultancy services focused on optimising production chemistry, improving process performance, and resolving complex operational challenges across offshore and onshore facilities. Our primary objective is to maximise product yield while ensuring consistent quality, asset protection, and regulatory compliance. By addressing critical issues such as corrosion, scale formation, and microbial contamination, we help prevent equipment failure, reduce unplanned shutdowns, and minimise the need for costly repairs and replacements.

We bring together highly experienced chemists with deep expertise in production, chemical management and process chemistry. Our team provides expert input into corrosion control programs, scale inhibition, biocide treatment strategies, sampling system design, analyser validation, and environmental compliance. Production chemicals play a vital role in maintaining flow assurance, protecting infrastructure, and ensuring product quality, and we ensure that these chemicals are selected, dosed, and monitored in a manner that delivers maximum performance with minimal waste.

Using a combination of laboratory data, field observations, and process knowledge, we conduct root cause analysis, identify inefficiencies, and implement targeted corrective actions. Our consultants work closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to ensure that chemical programs are aligned with real operating conditions and asset integrity requirements. Through continuous monitoring, performance trending, and technical feedback, we support long-term process improvement and operational stability.

This proactive and data-driven approach enables our clients to achieve optimal output with minimal input, while improving equipment life, reducing chemical overuse, and maintaining environmental compliance. The result is improved asset reliability, reduced downtime, and stronger overall project and production economics.

Omega Lab provides expert guidance on the selection and optimisation of offshore production chemicals to support safe and reliable operations. Below is a summary of the key production chemical categories we apply to address offshore operational challenges.

Demulsifiers:

Employed to break both forward and reverse emulsions, facilitating the separation of oil from water and thereby ensuring purer extraction.

Corrosion Inhibitors:

Designed to protect equipment from the damaging effects of corrosive substances.

Scale Inhibitors:

Prevent the accumulation of scale in process pipework and mineral deposits, which can obstruct process flow.

Biocides:

Essential for controlling harmful microbial activity, such as sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) and acid-producing bacteria (APB), thereby enhancing operational efficiency, production, and worker safety.

H2S and CO2 Scavengers:

Chemically react with and remove hydrogen sulfide (H2S) gas from oil and gas production streams to prevent equipment corrosion, ensure worker safety, and optimize operational efficiency by reducing downtime and maintenance costs associated with H2S damage.

Polymers:

Used as flocculants in wastewater treatment plants to aid in the settling of suspended solids, thus clarifying the water.

pH Adjusters:

Maintain the desired pH level in various industrial processes to ensure that reactions proceed at the optimal rate and yield.

Catalysts:

Facilitate chemical reactions in industries such as petrochemical and pharmaceutical without being consumed in the process.

Antifoaming Agents:

Address and prevent foam formation in processes where foam could impair efficiency.
